Halloween has me thinking about ghosts, zombies, and all kinds of scary things.
But you know what’s really scary?
The day you decide to work for yourself.
No safety net. No steady paycheck. No client pipeline. Just you—your skills, your decisions, your name on every invoice.
Some people jump. Others get pushed.
And being pushed can be even scarier, because going solo wasn’t part of the plan.
I’ve done it twice.
The first time I jumped. The second time, I was pushed. Both were terrifying—but for entirely different reasons.
Here’s the truth: every solopreneur I know has faced that fear at some point. The difference is, they moved forward anyway. They didn’t wait until they had it all figured out. They learned by doing.
In my latest Solo(ish) article, I share what both experiences taught me about fear, freedom, and what it really takes to build a business that lasts.
