Working for yourself doesn’t mean you work alone.

Halloween has me thinking about ghosts, zombies, and all kinds of scary things.

But you know what’s really scary?

The day you decide to work for yourself.

No safety net. No steady paycheck. No client pipeline. Just you—your skills, your decisions, your name on every invoice.

Some people jump. Others get pushed.

And being pushed can be even scarier, because going solo wasn’t part of the plan.

I’ve done it twice.

In my latest Solo(ish) article, I share what both experiences taught me about fear, freedom, and what it really takes to build a business that lasts.

The Scariest Thing I’ve Ever Done: Going Solo

Whether you’re thinking about going out on your own—or already deep in the solo trenches—this one’s for you.

Solo(ish) – Staying Visible When Business Feels Quiet

When business slows down, it’s tempting to go quiet. To wait it out. To assume people aren’t paying attention. But staying visible — even in slow seasons — is one of the smartest things you can do. Not because it instantly fills your calendar. Because it builds trust....

Solo(ish) – Not Every Win Is Measured in Dollars

I closed a new deal this week. It’s not for a ton of money, and some of the business coaches I admire might even say it’s a bad idea. But I don’t care. Because this deal isn’t just about the money—it’s about the opportunity. It’s not a big branding project or a...
